i think that every working mother should have a housekeeper/cleaner. i really think it should come as a package. husband + children + work = housekeeper. even though i know a maid would not clean to my specifications, it would definitely be better than the no cleaning that is right now. i honestly cannot remember the last time i actually dusted EVERY surface, cleaned the ENTIRE bathrooms, or vacummed EVERY square inch much less did the other random cleanings that should be done every so often, such as cleaning the windows, cleaning out the frig, cleaning the washer (the top edges of mine get so dirty), sweep the garage and back patio. it drives me crazy!! i want a clean and neat house. not that i have to clean every other day but at least once a week; especially now with ella and 2 dogs!
but in the end i know that if i did have a housekeeper, i would feel guilty because i really do want to clean my house. i am already relinquishing other duties of mommy and wife because i am working. i would hate to relinquish another. sooooooo for now i will try to squeeze in a quick vacuum of the most trafficked areas and who knows about anything else. **so be warned if you come by...please ignore the filth. You are not the only one! Although for me it is more about the money than giving up a "duty". I couldn't stand it to spend $150 a month or even more for someone to clean my house when i could make it look somewhat decent myself! : )
I think it should be an unwritten rule to ignore a working mother's house! It's hard to do it all and it only gets more difficult when they get older!
my two cents: i used to think that i could do it all too: be a good wife, be a good student, cook, clean, yard, etc - much less be a mom in your case. bottom line- there really aren't enough hours in a day. A very wise lady once told me that if you can afford to pay someone to do something that you can do, but doing it will take time away from something that you consider more valuable (i.e. Ella, Jeremy, work, etc) then it's worth it to have some help.
Let me know if you want a great house cleaners' number :) Hope you have are having a great Christmas season - I started listening to TranSiberian Orchestra Christmas music at the beginning of November :) - yes i was one of 'those' people!
um, yeah. i am in complete agreement and am relieved that i am not the only one who can't remember the last time i dusted. i can, however, remember the last time i played with my son and made a wonderful mess in the process :)
